R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Cayce Hardcastle was deservedly named the 2002 Outstanding Student of the Year by the Vernon Rotary Club, and this honor is an apt reflection of the esteem she has earned through her many significant achievements; and WHEREAS, A senior at Vernon High School, this talented young woman has excelled in her studies, making the honor roll, and has participated in an array of extracurricular activities, such as FFA, student government, and Spanish Club; outside of school, Miss Hardcastle has been an active member of Camp Fire USA for 12 years and was a Horizon Club cabinet member for one year; and WHEREAS, She is the recipient of a host of well-deserved accolades, including the Optimist Club's Outstanding Youth Recognition Award, the Spanish II Award, the International Foreign Language Award, and the United States Achievement Academy All-American Scholar Award; and WHEREAS, Truly a fountain of both energy and commitment, Miss Hardcastle also finds time to devote her considerable gifts to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, where she has appeared in an exercise video for adolescent cancer patients and in commercials promoting the Children's Art Project; moreover, she served as the 2002 honorary chairman and principal speaker for the Vernon Relay for Life and spoke during Crowell Cancer Awareness Week; and WHEREAS, Throughout her many endeavors, she enjoys the support of her parents, Nancy Zeissel Hardcastle and State Representative Rick Hardcastle, and her older sister, Christie, all of whom take great pride in her many accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Cayce Hardcastle is a source of joy and inspiration for her family and her community, and her generous and selfless choice to champion those in need serves as a beacon to her fellow citizens, illuminating life's abundant opportunities and limitless possibilities; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize Cayce Hardcastle on being named 2002 Outstanding Student of the Year by the Vernon Rotary Club and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Miss Hardcastle as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
