CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Magnolia in mourning the tragic loss of Deputy Constable John David Garcia, who died on July 17, 2003, at the age of 33; and WHEREAS, John David was born to Eusebio Garcia and Gloria Cordova on July 25, 1969; he shared a loving marriage with Shannon Garcia, and his daughter, Patricia, was a source of much pride and joy; and WHEREAS, A police officer who loved his work and protected his community, David had served for four years as a Montgomery County deputy constable for Precinct 5 in Magnolia; he had previously served in Precinct 2 in Conroe; and WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, David was known for his kindness and compassion for others, and he was a friend to all who knew him; and WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, courage, and generosity, he gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, A devout Christian, David lived his faith in his daily life, and he placed his trust in God and his love for his family first; and WHEREAS, David lived his life to the fullest and was a devoted husband, father, and brother, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of John David Garcia: his wife, Shannon Garcia; his daughter, Patricia Liane Garcia; his father and stepmother, Eusebio and Janise Garcia; his mother, Gloria Cordova; his sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia and Oscar Vera, Angela Rene, and Katherine Marie; his brother, Michael Christopher Garcia; his grandparents, John and Lela Caballero; and his many other beloved relatives; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Legislature, and that when the legislature adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John David Garcia.
