SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the Houston Chapter of the National Hispanic Council 
on Aging on the occasion of its 10th annual "Bajo El Mismo 
Techo/Under the Same Roof" Conference on September 11, 2003; 
and

	WHEREAS, More than 500 elderly adults from the
Houston/Harris County area will be transported to the 
conference at the Humble Civic Center from the office of 
Commissioner Sylvia Garcia; and

	WHEREAS, Services and products beneficial to the health 
and well-being of Harris County's Hispanic senior community 
will be exhibited at the conference in over 50 booths; and

	WHEREAS, The National Hispanic Council on Aging is 
dedicated to improving the quality of life of Hispanic seniors 
through education on issues and advocacy on their behalf for 
improved services and just policies; and

	WHEREAS, The Bajo El Mismo Techo/Under the Same Roof 
Conference is an informative event which will undoubtedly 
benefit the lives of its Hispanic participants; now, therefore, 
be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the 
National Hispanic Council on Aging, Houston Chapter, for its 
efforts on behalf of the elderly Hispanic community and extend 
to its members best wishes for a successful conference; and, be 
it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an 
expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
