SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 36
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Dr. Jose de Jesus Guerra and Dr. Maria del Socorro
Guajardo de Guerra on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding
anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Jose de Jesus Guerra and Maria del Socorro
Guajardo Flores were married on July 9, 1953, in Saltillo, Mexico;
the couple moved to the Kentucky/Ohio area, and both practiced
family medicine; in 1957, they moved to Abilene, Texas, where
Dr. Jose Guerra built a thriving family practice; after his
retirement in 2001, the couple moved to Austin; and
WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the
years of their marriage, yet Dr. and Mrs. Guerra have cherished
traditional family and moral values and have been blessed with
a wonderful family; their eight children, Martha, Jim, Luis,
Albert, Ana Maria, Theresa, Laura, and Patricia, and their
11 grandchildren have been a source of much pride and joy; and
WHEREAS, Their family will join them July 9, 2003, at the
Guadalupe River Ranch in Boerne to celebrate their anniversary;
and
WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Dr. and Mrs. Guerra is
truly an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend
sincere congratulations to Dr. Jose de Jesus Guerra and
Dr. Maria del Socorro Guajardo de Guerra on their golden wedding
anniversary; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in
their lives.
