SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 40
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Delia Velasquez for her superb work in evaluating
the bicycle safety curriculum known as the Texas SuperCyclist
Project; and
WHEREAS, Delia, a teacher at Miguel Carrillo Elementary
School in the South San Antonio Independent School District, was
cited for her exemplary service by the Texas Bicycle Coalition
Education Fund; and
WHEREAS, One of approximately 60 teachers who participated
in the evaluation, Delia received a Certificate of Accomplishment,
and her name will be featured prominently in the revised curriculum
that consists of 15 lessons in traffic laws, bicycle safety
maintenance, good decision making, and actual practice on
bicycles; the curriculum will be distributed nationally; and
WHEREAS, Delia has demonstrated her commitment to
improving the health of children through promoting bicycle
riding for exercise, and she has also shared her knowledge and
understanding in order to increase bicycle safety for children;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend
Delia Velasquez for her dedication to the Texas SuperCyclist
Project and congratulate her on her selection for public recognition
for her work in promoting bicycle safety and awareness for all
young Texans; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
