SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 51
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Crossroads Championship BBQ Cook-off in Goliad as
a Texas State BBQ Championship Competition; and
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Wild-N-Wooly Cookers, the 8th
Annual Crossroads Championship BBQ Cook-off is being held in
historic Goliad, Texas; and
WHEREAS, The Crossroads Championship BBQ Cook-off
began in 1996 and is always held the weekend after Labor Day;
this year's event includes a Harley Davidson Bike Show and Poker
Run, a horseshoe tournament, a washer tournament, and arts and
crafts shows, as well as the barbecue cook-off sanctioned by the
International Barbecue Cookers Association; and
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue,
and over the years, Texas barbecue cook-off cooks have provided
superior cuisine, satisfying the most discriminating of palates;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby declare the
Crossroads Championship BBQ Cook-off a Texas State BBQ Championship
Competition and extend best wishes to all associated with the
event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
for this special occasion as an expression of esteem from the
Texas Senate.
