SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 58

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the members of the Tom Davis family as they gather for 
their 2003 family reunion at the Comanche Garden Center; and

	WHEREAS, The Tom Davis family has held family reunions each 
year since 1927 to share cherished memories and to celebrate the 
pride they all have in their family history; and

	WHEREAS, The Davis family has been part of Comanche County 
since 1872, when Isaac and Catherine Cummings Davis traveled in a 
covered wagon from Tennessee with their youngest son, Thomas, to 
settle in the Board Church community; and

	WHEREAS, Later, Tom Davis married Sarah Jane McConnell, 
and the couple lived on the family homestead established by his 
parents and farmed the land; they were blessed with a family 
of 14 children, 49 grandchildren, and 118 great-grandchildren; 
exemplary members of the community, Tom served on the school 
board, and Sarah was a dedicated volunteer, helping her neighbors 
during times of illness; they were members of Sardis Baptist 
Church in Board Church; and

	WHEREAS, The Tom Davis family reunion provides the joyful 
opportunity for several generations of this distinguished family 
to renew important bonds and take great delight in one another's 
company; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend best wishes 
to the entire Tom Davis family on this joyful occasion; and, be 
it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared 
for this memorable event as an expression of esteem from the 
Texas Senate.
