SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 72
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Enriqueta G. Fierro for her outstanding contributions
to the City of El Paso and for the laudable example of civic
participation she sets for her fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, Queta has devoted her life to the service
of her community; a dedicated and active volunteer, she has
given of her time and energy to countless local and national
organizations, commissions, and boards for nearly 40 years;
she presently serves on the Muscular Dystrophy Association
Board, the El Paso Community Foundation Advisory Board, the
Hispanic Leadership Institute, and the El Paso Children's Day
Care Center Board; and
WHEREAS, For her exceptional achievements, Queta Fierro
has been recognized with more than 15 awards, including the
1974 National LULAC Woman of the Year award from the League
of United Latin American Citizens and the 1987 Service to the
Community Award from the El Paso County Democratic Party;
during the local observance of Women's History Month in 2003,
she was honored as a role model for the City of El Paso; and
WHEREAS, She is a source of strength to others and her
accomplishments reflect her dedication to the City of El Paso
and her fellowman; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend
Enriqueta G. Fierro for her exceptional achievements in
making El Paso a better place to live and extend best wishes
to her for her future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
