SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 79
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
pay tribute to Joel McLendon on the grand occasion of his 90th
birthday on August 12, 2003; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman was born August 12, 1913,
in Memphis, Tennessee, and has been a longtime resident of Dallas;
he has owned a showroom in the Dallas Market Center for 48 years;
and
WHEREAS, A respected member of his community, Mr. McLendon
is noted for his courage, his sense of humor, and his enthusiasm
for living each day to the fullest; and
WHEREAS, Joel enjoys going to the theater, dancing, and
playing cards, and on July 6, 2002, he married his beloved wife,
Violet; and
WHEREAS, In celebration of Joel's birthday, friends and
family will gather at the Dallas Trade Mart Atrium on August 9, 2003,
to congratulate him and share in this milestone in his life; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize Joel McLendon
as a treasured citizen of Dallas and our state; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as a memento of this special day.
