SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 82
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Louise Naven on the occasion of her retirement after
21 years of service to the state; and
WHEREAS, Louise first worked for the state as a legal
secretary in the Office of the Attorney General; and
WHEREAS, She then worked as a bookkeeper and executive
administrative secretary for the Austin Chamber of Commerce
before returning to state employment as the executive
administrative assistant to State Senator Jack Ogg; she
was his assistant for 12 years, and her responsibilities included
managing the staff and supervising all areas, including
legislative and committee work; and
WHEREAS, Louise was also responsible for coordinating
numerous statewide committee meetings, including the statewide
Senate redistricting meetings and meetings for the Committee to
Study Texas Beaches; she served as coordinator for the Governor
for a Day Ceremonies, which entailed making arrangements to
accommodate approximately 1,000 guests; and
WHEREAS, For the past eight years, Louise has served as the
office manager for the Senate Purchasing and Supply Office, where
she has carried out her responsibilities with great diligence and
commitment and has been well liked and respected by her colleagues;
after her retirement, her presence in the office will be greatly
missed; and
WHEREAS, A hard worker, Louise has also devoted much of her
energy to volunteer service and has given 2,000 hours of her time
to the South Austin Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary over the
past 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Retirement provides the time for enjoying
personal interests, and Louise looks forward to pursuing her
passion for traveling, especially to the beach; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Louise Naven
for her dedication and loyalty during her 21 years of service to
the state and extend best wishes to her for a happy and rewarding
retirement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
