SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 93
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 
paying tribute to David Maurice Robinson, who is retiring after 
an outstanding 14-year career with the San Antonio Spurs; and
	WHEREAS, A 10-time NBA All-Star, David Robinson is ending 
his career after helping his teammates capture the 2003 National 
Basketball Association championship title, their second national 
title in five years; and
	WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous well-deserved 
accolades for his exceptional performances on the basketball 
court, David Robinson was named Rookie of the Year in 1990 and one 
of the National Basketball Association's 50 Greatest Players of 
All-Time in 1996; he was the league's 1995 Most Valuable Player 
and has been inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame; and
	WHEREAS, In addition to amassing an impressive record as 
a basketball player, David Robinson is a caring and generous 
benefactor who has engaged in a number of humanitarian projects; 
he and his wife, Valerie, created the David Robinson Foundation, 
a Christian organization that helps families with their spiritual 
and physical needs; David has been inducted into the World Sports 
Humanitarian Hall of Fame and recently received the Professional 
Basketball Writers Association's 2003 J. Walter Kennedy 
Citizenship Award for outstanding community service; and
	WHEREAS, A star athlete who has distinguished himself 
in his profession, David Robinson is a source of great pride to 
his fellow Spurs, the City of San Antonio and his state; now, 
therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend David Robinson
for his many contributions to his sport, the citizens of San Antonio
and the State of Texas and extend to him best wishes for the 
future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
