SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 97
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Jacqueline S. Martin, who was recently named Executive
Communicator of the Year by the International Association of
Business Communicators and the Houston Business Journal; and
WHEREAS, The award honors an organizational leader outside
of the International Association of Business Communicators forum
who has implemented effective communication programs; and
WHEREAS, Jackie Martin, president of the United Way of the
Texas Gulf Coast, was presented the award at the association's
Bronze Quill Awards event in Houston; she was cited for her
outstanding ability to share the United Way's story with the
public and encourage people to give from their hearts for the
betterment of the community; as a result, her organization raised
$68.5 million last year to support critical social services in
the Houston area; and
WHEREAS, Because of Jackie's exceptional ability to
communicate the importance of giving back to the community, more
than 200 programs in over 80 agencies have been able to meet the
vital needs of the citizens of the Bay area and of Fort Bend,
Harris, Montgomery, and Waller counties; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend
Jacqueline S. Martin for her exemplary leadership of the
United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast and extend congratulations to
her on her selection as Executive Communicator of the Year; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
