SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 108
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Gilbert Martinez on the occasion of his retirement as director of Audit Resolution for the Texas Workforce Commission after more than 25 years of loyal service to the state; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Southwest Texas State University, Gilbert began his service with the state after retiring as a master sergeant with 23 years of experience in the United States Air Force; and WHEREAS, He started working in the Governor's Office of Criminal Justice in 1977 and moved to the Governor's Office of Budget and Planning in 1980; he began working with the Texas workforce system in 1987; and WHEREAS, Gilbert has expertise in financial and program monitoring and resolution of audits; a strong advocate for Central Texas Workforce, he has traveled throughout the Central Texas area to ensure that elected officials are sufficiently informed about the state and local workforce systems; and WHEREAS, He is known for his strong principles and his commitment to keeping his staff informed and ensuring that appropriate systems are in place for efficient operations of the Audit Resolution department; and WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Gilbert has been an inspiration to those who have had the pleasure to know and to work with him, and his presence at the Texas Workforce Commission will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Gilbert Martinez for his many years of invaluable service to the state and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
