A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the joint interim committee on the review of state 
agencies and school districts.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  (a)  The joint interim committee on the review of 
state agencies and school districts is established to study and 
assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the processes by which 
state agencies and school districts are reviewed under Sections 
403.020 and 403.022, Government Code, and Chapter 325, Government 
Code.
	(b)  The interim committee is composed of the members of the 
House Government Reform Committee and the Senate Government 
Organization Committee.
	(c)  The chair of the House Government Reform Committee and 
the chair of the Senate Government Organization Committee are the 
joint chairs of the interim committee.
	(d)  The interim committee shall hold meetings and public 
hearings at the call of either of the joint chairs of the committee.
	(e)  Not later than October 1, 2004, the interim committee 
shall prepare and deliver to the lieutenant governor and the 
speaker of the house of representatives copies of a report 
containing the interim committee's findings and recommendations.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect December 1, 2003.
