R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Dan and Carolyn Metcalf of Mineola marked a 
milestone in their marriage on May 23, 2003, when they celebrated 
the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; and
	WHEREAS, Surprised by their daughter with a limousine ride to 
the American Airlines Arena, the couple enjoyed dinner in Dallas 
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban's private dining room and then watched 
the Mavericks play their last home game of the 2002-2003 season; and
	WHEREAS, United in matrimony on May 23, 1953, Mr. and 
Mrs. Metcalf have nurtured a special bond of love over the years, 
and their enduring union has been blessed with two children, 
Katherine and Kyle Metcalf; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Metcalf is a retired school teacher, and 
Mr. Metcalf is a retired electrical engineer; they are valued 
members of their community and their close-knit relationship is a 
source of inspiration to their family and friends; and
	WHEREAS, For half a century, the Metcalfs have filled each 
other's lives with many happy times and cherished family memories, 
and it is a privilege to honor them for all they have accomplished 
in their life together; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dan and 
Carolyn Metcalf on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to 
them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
