H.R. No. 17 


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas Educational Support Staff Association has honored Alma S. Valdez with the Nelda Van Dyke Award, an accolade that was presented to Ms. Valdez during the group's 2003 Summer Work Conference in Austin; and WHEREAS, The Rio Grande Valley Educational Secretaries Association (VESA) nominated Ms. Valdez for this prestigious honor in recognition of her many contributions; a past president of the chapter and editor of its newsletter and handbook, she currently holds the post of VESA parliamentarian; and WHEREAS, Ms. Valdez has been a valued employee of the Weslaco Independent School District (ISD) for 21 years, and for the last decade and a half she has ably fulfilled the myriad responsibilities of secretary to the superintendent; she currently assists Superintendent Richard Rivera; and WHEREAS, Through her outstanding leadership and untiring devotion to the Weslaco ISD, Alma Valdez has exemplified the highest standards of her profession, and she has long served as an inspiration to all who have been privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Alma S. Valdez on her receipt of the Nelda Van Dyke Award from the Texas Educational Support Staff Association and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Valdez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
