R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The retirement of Renil C. "Ren" Linér of San Marcos as commissioner of the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board brings to a close the career of this distinguished public servant; and WHEREAS, A graduate of San Jose State University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in social science, Mr. Linér received his master of arts degree in education from California Polytechnic State University and became a Ph.D. candidate at Oregon State University; and WHEREAS, Mr. Linér brought to his commissioner's post the diverse experience he gained from previous positions in the fields of education, business, and state government; after working in an administrative capacity for a number of universities from 1966 to 1981, he owned and operated Candie's Ice Cream Parlor and Sandwich Shoppe until 1985, when he became chief examiner with the Texas Real Estate Commission; Mr. Linér ably served in that position until he was hired in 1989 to be the agency's director of appraiser certification; and WHEREAS, In 1991, Mr. Linér was named commissioner for the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board by a nine-person board appointed by the governor; in establishing this new state agency, he planned and provided for all facets of its operation, implementing the examination program, coordinating with other state agencies to work with the state budgetary and legislative process, and creating working relationships with other state and federal officials; and WHEREAS, Demonstrating an uncompromising integrity and commitment to excellence, Mr. Linér may take great pride in knowing that during his tenure with the State of Texas he made significant and lasting contributions to his profession and to the people of the Lone Star State, and his dedicated service is truly appreciated; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Ren Linér on his retirement as commissioner of the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board and extend to him best wishes for many happy and rewarding years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Linér as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
