R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Thomas Floyd "Sleepy" Smith has been named 2003 Small Business Person of the Year by the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Mr. Smith embarked on a career in real estate after working for DuPont; at the encouragement of friends, he turned his part-time avocation into a rewarding full-time profession; and WHEREAS, This noted East Texan later decided to go into business for himself, opening First Realty in 1985; the venture has proved to be a smashing success, with Mr. Smith's commitment to outstanding personal service furnishing the cornerstone of the enterprise; and WHEREAS, He is actively involved in Realtor associations and was acknowledged for his contributions to the profession in 1985, when he was named Realtor of the Year; and WHEREAS, A respected and admired resident of Orange, Mr. Smith has operated First Realty with thorough knowledge of his community, giving exceptional attention to each client, and he is truly deserving of his special recognition by the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Thomas Floyd "Sleepy" Smith on being named 2003 Small Business Person of the Year and extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
