R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, It is a great pleasure for the Texas House of
Representatives to join in honoring a very special Texan, Juliana
Alejandro of Weslaco, who recently commemorated her 105th birthday;
and
WHEREAS, Born on June 19, 1898, in Raices, Nuevo Leon,
Mexico, she grew up on her family's farm, and recalls taking care of
her animals and her garden, riding horses, and participating in
show jumping; and
WHEREAS, Joined in marriage to Esteban Alejandro at the age
of 15, this lovely lady was blessed with nine children and shared a
warm and rewarding relationship with her husband until his passing
in 1977; she is the cherished matriarch and adviser to her large
extended family, which today includes 98 grandchildren, 199
great-grandchildren, and 50 great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Alejandro still resides in the same home that
she moved into in 1954 with her husband and children when they
arrived in Weslaco; still living a remarkably independent and
active life, Mrs. Alejandro takes walks regularly, tends to
household chores, and enjoys spending time with her loved ones; and
WHEREAS, The birthday of Mrs. Alejandro provides a fitting
opportunity to honor this remarkable woman who remains an
inspiration to all who are privileged to know her; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Juliana
Alejandro on the momentous occasion of her 105th birthday and
extend to her heartfelt best wishes for continued happiness; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Alejandro as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
