H.R. No. 62 


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Brandon Fails of Grapevine on November 25, 2002, at the age of 18, has brought a profound loss to his family and many friends, and it is most appropriate that we honor his memory at this time; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, he was born on May 7, 1984, in Grapevine; he was a student at Cannon Elementary School, went on to attend Colleyville Heritage Middle School, and graduated with the Class of 2002 at Colleyville Heritage High School; and WHEREAS, A member of the Texas A&M University football team, Mr. Fails was known for his outstanding athletic talent and dedication to his teammates; during his time as a Colleyville Heritage High School Panther, he was named the state's Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year in 2001 and earned first-team All-State honors; as a senior, his record of tackles and sacks helped his school lead Fort Worth area 5A teams in points allowed and rushing yards allowed; and WHEREAS, Baptized while a congregant of Mount Horuhm Baptist Church, where he professed his faith in Christ at a young age, he later joined the Young Life Ministries at Highland Meadows Christian Church; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fails delighted his family and friends with his enthusiasm for life and his kind heart, and he reminded them that the ability to give and inspire love is not limited by age or time; and WHEREAS, Although it is immeasurably painful to say good-bye to one so young, it is comforting to know that while his time here was all too brief, Mr. Fails will long be remembered as a man of honor and integrity by the many people who knew and admired him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor the memory of Brandon Fails and extend sincere sympathy to his parents, Charles and Valerie Fails; to his brother and sisters, Jodfrey Fails, Tameka Vaughn, and Kimpell Jerrells; to his grandmother, Clarice McGrue; and to the many others who mourn the passing of this beloved young man; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Brandon Fails.
