R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Rodolfo E. Garza has been a dedicated educator for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District for the past 25 years, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize his many accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Growing up in a family of migrant workers who traversed the states of Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Arkansas, and Missouri, Mr. Garza volunteered in 1964 for the U.S. Air Force, serving with distinction until he was honorably discharged four years later as a sergeant; and WHEREAS, Mr. Garza, assisted by the G.I. Bill, attended The University of Texas-Pan American and earned a degree in community service; he later attended Texas A&I University, receiving a master's degree in education in 1985; and WHEREAS, Inspiring his students to excel and setting them on the path to a bright future, Mr. Garza has taught career investigation and has served as a visiting teacher for the Edinburg CISD for a quarter-century; he retired in May 2003, but his deep love for teaching drew him back to work as a visiting teacher again; and WHEREAS, Mr. Garza is a devoted family man who married the former Edna de la Garza in 1969; their special union has been blessed with two children, Ricardo and Patricia, and they have proudly watched their family grow to include two grandchildren, Randy and Eric; and WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Pena has justly recognized this exemplary educator by authoring this resolution in his behalf during the 78th legislative session; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Rodolfo E. Garza for his 25 years of service in education and extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
