H.R. No. 119
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On August 31, 2003, Samuel W. Armstrong is retiring
from his position as an auditor with the Texas comptroller of public
accounts, bringing to a close a stellar career with the agency that
has spanned 28 years; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Sam Houston State University and a
certified public accountant, Mr. Armstrong joined the
comptroller's office in 1975 as a tax auditor; and
WHEREAS, Over the years this dedicated professional rose
through the ranks to achieve the highest auditor level, Auditor VI,
and in addition to auditing some of the state's largest and most
complex taxpayers, he has been a valuable source of knowledge and
guidance to his coworkers in the Houston South Audit Office; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong's significant duties also included
serving as a group PC coordinator and as a member of the renaissance
committee and conducting seminars for taxpayers; and
WHEREAS, He has been supported in all his endeavors by his
wife, Vicki, his daughter, Joanna, and his two beloved
grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, For over a quarter-century, Samuel Armstrong has
worked tirelessly in behalf of his fellow citizens, and as he
reflects on his outstanding career, he may indeed take great pride
in his many contributions to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Samuel W.
Armstrong on his retirement from state service and extend to him
sincere best wishes for happiness as he begins a new chapter in his
life; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Armstrong as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
