H.R. No. 121R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Jack L. and Betty Lou Emory of Big Sandy have marked a special milestone in their lives together with the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary on July 26, 2003; and WHEREAS, In commemoration of this momentous day, Mr. and Mrs. Emory were treated to a family dinner hosted by their children and their spouses, Gail and David Cook, Kevin Emory, and Mark and Sherry Emory; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Emory, both natives of Washington state, were united in matrimony on July 24, 1953, in Biloxi, Mississippi; over the years, their enduring union has been blessed with a loving and supportive family, and they have proudly watched their extended family grow to include four grandchildren, Elizabeth Cook Fitlow, Jason Cook, Andrew Emory, and Adam Emory; and WHEREAS, A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Emory retired as a purchasing agent for Children's Medical Center of Dallas; Mrs. Emory worked for Reserve Life Insurance Company until her retirement; they are active members of the Church of Power, where Mr. Emory serves as a deacon; and WHEREAS, This devoted couple have shared half a century together, nurturing a strong bond of love and filling each other's lives with many happy times and cherished family memories, and it is most appropriate to recognize them at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Jack and Betty Emory on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Emory as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
