R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans
who have shared 50 happy and fulfilling years of marriage is truly a
memorable occasion; Midland residents Bill and Marilynn Wheeler
recently commemorated this momentous event in their lives when they
celebrated their golden wedding anniversary; and
WHEREAS, William Wheeler and the former Marilynn McNatt
exchanged their wedding vows on July 31, 1953, at a ceremony held in
Dallas; Mr. Wheeler, a 1953 graduate of North Texas State College,
was a member of the United States Marine Corps who completed tours
of duty in Virginia, California, Okinawa, Japan, and Korea and who
also established a successful 45-year career with the Wheeler Motor
Company; Mrs. Wheeler achieved her own professional success as an
elementary school educator in Stanton, where she was highly
esteemed by peers, parents, and pupils alike, and together the
Wheelers built a happy home life for their three beloved children,
Billy, Bryan, and Mary Lynn; and
WHEREAS, This devoted couple moved to Midland in 1997 and are
currently members of the community of faith at St. Luke's United
Methodist Church; active and energetic in their retirement, they
both take immense pride in their growing family, which in recent
years has expanded to include two daughters-in-law, Donna and
Katie, and four grandsons, Chad, Corey, Dylan, and Logan; and
WHEREAS, Since becoming husband and wife 50 years ago, this
devoted couple have enjoyed an enduring relationship that has grown
in love and mutual respect with each passing year, and they remain a
source of delight and inspiration to the friends with whom they have
shared the richness of their life together; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Bill and
Marilynn Wheeler of Midland on the occasion of their golden wedding
anniversary and extend to them best wishes for much happiness in the
years to come; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
