R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 
who have shared 50 happy and fulfilling years of marriage is truly a 
memorable occasion; longtime Midland residents Micky and Jimmie 
Helms recently commemorated this momentous event in their lives 
when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary; and
	WHEREAS, Jimmie Helms and the former Micky Kelly exchanged 
their wedding vows on July 14, 1953, at a ceremony held in 
Lovington, New Mexico; in the years that followed, they worked hard 
to build a loving home life for the couple's three children, Kelly, 
Mike, and Jennifer, all of whom still reside in the Permian Basin 
area; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Helms are former residents of Snyder 
who moved to Midland in 1957; active and energetic in their 
retirement, they take immense pride in the accomplishments of their 
four beloved grandchildren, and they have generously given of their 
time and resources to assist the AKC Basset Hound Rescue program in 
their community; and
	WHEREAS, Since becoming husband and wife 50 years ago, this 
devoted couple have enjoyed an enduring relationship that has grown 
in love and mutual respect with each passing year, and they remain a 
source of delight and inspiration to the friends with whom they have 
shared the richness of their life together; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Micky and 
Jimmie Helms of Midland on the occasion of their golden wedding 
anniversary and extend to them best wishes for much happiness in the 
years to come; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Helms as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
