R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Texas-based Homemade Gourmet, Inc., has expanded
its operation, relocating from Frisco to Canton, and this unique
company will soon have 10,000 independent distributors in 46
states; and
WHEREAS, Begun in 1997 in the home of chairman and "chief
visionary officer" Tami VanHoy, Homemade Gourmet, Inc., produces
original mixes based on the recipes of Mrs. VanHoy's grandmother;
these flavorful mixes include Italian Mozzarella Meatloaf, Texas
Chili, Spiced Molasses Cookies, and Lucky Bean Soup, among many
others; and
WHEREAS, With nearly 200 employees, this noteworthy business
continues to grow and prosper, thanks largely to the efforts of Mrs.
VanHoy and company president Teresa Day; these enterprising
individuals understand the importance of nutritious meals as well
as the fact that many children throughout the world don't have
access to sufficiently nutritious foods; and
WHEREAS, To help address this problem, Homemade Gourmet,
Inc., sponsors a number of children in Banjara, India, in
conjunction with World Vision, the world's largest Christian relief
and development agency; in addition, many of the company's
distributors sponsor children in Central America and other parts of
the world; and
WHEREAS, Rooted in tradition, Homemade Gourmet, Inc., has
reached an exciting point in its evolution from grassroots
home-based venture to thriving small business, and it is a
privilege to recognize this exemplary company and its owners and
employees at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby recognize Homemade
Gourmet, Inc., and extend best wishes to Tami VanHoy and Teresa Day
for continued success in their new location in Canton.
