R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Georgia Louise Reid of Canton on August 12, 2003, at the age of 101, has brought a great loss to the many friends and relatives of this much-loved Texan; and WHEREAS, Born Georgia Louise Dillard on January 1, 1902, this Somervell County native was the daughter of Aaron Lee and Mittie Delilah Hudgins Dillard; she enjoyed a rewarding marriage with her husband, James Roscoe Reid, with whom she built a loving home for their five children, Jim, Johnny, Tommy, Bernice, and Linda Joan, and in recent years she eagerly welcomed the new addition of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren to her family; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Reid, who resided in the communities of Willow Springs and Crooked Creek for most of her life, was both admired and respected by her friends and neighbors; her hobbies included crocheting, ceramics, and arts and crafts, and for more than half a century she played an instrumental role in the success of the Eastern Star organization, serving as a charter member of the Edgewood Chapter, a group that consolidated with Wills Point Chapter No. 366; and WHEREAS, Those who were privileged enough to know Mrs. Reid will long remember the kindness and compassion she brought to every facet of her life; though her presence is gone from us now, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched during her years on this earth; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Georgia Louise Reid and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons and daughter-in-law, Jim Reid, Johnny Reid, and Tommy and Neva Jean Reid; to her daughters and sons-in-law, Bernice and Bill Ewing and Linda Joan and Charles Page; to her 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and to her other friends and relatives; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Georgia Louise Reid.
