R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a notable occasion; and WHEREAS, Lee Edward Williams and Sarah Jo Williams recently commemorated this golden event in their lives when they were joined by family and friends at Hainesville Baptist Church for a spirited celebration of their half century of mutual affection and devotion; and WHEREAS, The couple were united in marriage on June 20, 1953, at Hainesville Baptist Church, and their relationship has continued to grow in love and respect with each passing year; and WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Williams is retired from a distinguished career in the military that saw him log over 250 combat missions in the Vietnam War; he went on to serve his fellow citizens as an appraiser with the Wood County Tax Assessor's Office, a member of the Quitman Independent School Board, and a four-term county judge of Wood County; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams is a native of Mineola, Texas, and a graduate of Quitman High School who has devoted her time and energy to supporting her husband in his efforts and providing her family with a loving home environment; and WHEREAS, The Williamses are blessed with three children, Terri, Lee, and David, all of whom benefited immeasurably from their parents' unfailing love and guidance, and the couple have happily welcomed a son-in-law, Tom, two daughters-in-law, Denise and Grace, and seven grandchildren, Scott, James, David, Allen, Shane, Brooke, and Zack into the family fold; and WHEREAS, For half a century Mr. and Mrs. Williams have shared a union filled with many wonderful times and joyful family memories, and their relationship remains a source of inspiration to their family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Lee Edward Williams and Sarah Jo Williams on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Williams as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
