R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Kathleen Bratton Voigt
were deeply saddened by the passing of this esteemed lady on August
12, 2003, at the age of 93; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Voigt graduated from The University of Texas at
Austin with a bachelor of business administration degree, and she
continued her studies at St. Mary's University, earning a master of
arts degree in government; and
WHEREAS, Actively involved in politics, Mrs. Voigt served
with distinction as secretary of the Democrats of Texas, and she was
honored by the Young Democrats of Texas; over the years, Mrs. Voigt
came to know four U.S. presidents, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B.
Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished Texan led a rich and rewarding
life; through her hard work and an abiding commitment to her ideals,
she positively influenced the lives of others, and her memory will
not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Kathleen Bratton Voigt and extend deepest sympathies to the members
of her family: to her daughter, Karen Offer; to her grandson, Lex
Offer; to her nieces and nephews, Jody Mallet, Jerry Campbell and
her husband, Ron, and Comer Alden; and to her other relatives and
many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kathleen
Bratton Voigt.
