H.R. No. 157


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, August 31, 2003, marks the retirement of Maurice McBride of Houston from the audit division of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, drawing to a close an outstanding 28-year career with that agency; and WHEREAS, Mr. McBride first joined the comptroller's office on August 11, 1975, as an auditor in the Austin out-of-state audit group, and in July 1978, he was promoted to the position of audit group supervisor in the Houston north audit office; through the years, Mr. McBride has consistently provided exceptional service while upholding the highest standards of professionalism; and WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman served for two years in the U.S. Army, including one tour of duty in Vietnam; he is an active member of Northwest Community Church and was the ace pitcher for the Houston north audit softball team; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. McBride enjoys the love and support of his wife, Bettie, and his children, Marcus, Marshall, and Maurice McBride II; retirement will undoubtedly afford him the opportunity to spend more time with his family, as well as to indulge in his love of golf; and WHEREAS, Mr. McBride has served the State of Texas with integrity and dedication for nearly three decades, earning the lasting respect of all who have been privileged enough to work with him, and it is a pleasure to recognize his exemplary tenure with the state as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Maurice McBride for his notable career with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and extend to him best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. McBride as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
