R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Joe R. DeLeon, Jr., R.Ph., of Corpus Christi has been named the 2003 Pharmacist of the Year by the Texas Pharmacy Association for his exceptional service to his profession and his community; and WHEREAS, For more than 40 years, Mr. DeLeon has demonstrated a deep commitment to the goals of the Texas Pharmacy Association, working in its behalf through his diligent efforts at the local, state, and national levels; and WHEREAS, Since his 1949 graduation from The University of Texas College of Pharmacy, this highly regarded pharmacist has faithfully served the health care needs of his fellow residents of Corpus Christi through his work at DeLeon's Pharmacy; and WHEREAS, Mr. DeLeon further contributes to the welfare of his fellow Texans through his membership with The University of Texas College of Pharmacy Deans Advisory Council, the Buccaneer Commission, and Sembradores De Armistad; he is a past officer and director of the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, and his outstanding work has been recognized by the Mayor's Commission on AIDS, the City Bay Drilling Advisory Board, and the Boys and Girls Club of Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, Mr. DeLeon's commitment to his profession, residents of the Corpus Christi area, and his loved ones has enriched the lives of countless people, and it is indeed appropriate that he receive special recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Joe R. DeLeon, Jr., R.Ph., for being named the 2003 Pharmacist of the Year by the Texas Pharmacy Association and extend to him best wishes for success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. DeLeon as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
