R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Motivation Education & Training, Incorporated
(MET), Youth Program has made a commendable difference in the lives
of South Texas migrant students; and
WHEREAS, Incorporated in 1967, this nonprofit organization
provides academic and vocational training to migrant and seasonal
farmworkers in an attempt to further the economic self-sufficiency
of participants; many young people in the Eagle Pass area have
benefited from the MET Youth Program, which has given migrant
students an opportunity to finish high school or earn a GED; and
WHEREAS, For farmworker teens, this program puts within reach
what may have once seemed an unattainable goal, as harvest often
calls migrant families away before each school year ends, keeping
these students from completing their studies; and
WHEREAS, Education empowers children to reach their full
potential for healthy and productive living through the acquisition
of increased skills and knowledge; the MET Youth Program has helped
countless Lone Star youths achieve goals and make dreams of a bright
future a sound reality; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby recognize the Motivation
Education & Training, Inc., Youth Program for its many
contributions to South Texas teens and commend its student
participants for remaining committed to the vital pursuit of
knowledge through education; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Motivation Education & Training, Inc., as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
