H.R. No. 182



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Honorable Novis Dell Wisdom will celebrate her 
retirement as Wood County district clerk on August 29, 2003, in the 
company of her family, friends, and colleagues, and this occasion 
offers a fitting opportunity to honor this esteemed woman; and
	WHEREAS, A Wood County native, Ms. Wisdom attended school in 
Winnsboro and Hawkins and graduated from Hawkins High School; she 
attended Tyler Commercial College before moving to Dallas, where 
she worked for Electrical Log Services, Inc., from 1958 to 1965; and
	WHEREAS, The devoted mother of three children, Trena, Tara, 
and Chad, she was a homemaker while her children were young; in 
1980, she reentered the workforce when she took a job as a deputy in 
the Wood County district clerk's office, and three years later she 
was hired as the court coordinator for district judges Virgil 
Mullinax, Galloway Calhoun, and Richard Davis; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Wisdom's dedication and proven abilities during 
her tenure in this role earned her the respect of her colleagues, 
and when the former district clerk retired in 1997, she was 
appointed to the position and has since twice been reelected 
unopposed; in retirement, she is looking forward to spending time 
with her new husband, Cliff Johnston, her children, and her 
grandchildren, Caitlin and Kent, and to many years of fishing, 
golfing, and traveling; and
	WHEREAS, Novis Dell Wisdom is a role model to all who know 
her, and her impressive 23-year tenure in the service of Wood County 
will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Novis Dell Wisdom on 
the occasion of her retirement as Wood County district clerk and 
extend to her best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, 
be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Ms. Wisdom as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
