H.B. 50 78(3) BILL ANALYSIS H.B. 50 By: Pitts Judicial Affairs Committee Report (Unamended) BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE H.B. 50 allows the Commissioners Court of Ellis County to budget for and pay an annual salary, in addition to the salary paid by the state and other authorized compensation, to judges of the district courts having jurisdiction in the county. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 32, Government Code, is amended by adding Section 32.070 to authorize the commissioners court of Ellis County, notwithstanding Section 659.012, to budget for and pay the judges of the district courts having jurisdiction in the county an annual salary paid by the commissioners court for services rendered and for performing administrative duties. The salary is in addition to the salary paid by the state and other authorized compensation. SECTION 2. Effective date: This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the legislative session. EFFECTIVE DATE This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the legislative session.
