HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Singing sensation Lisa Marie Presley is bringing her unique brand of rock-n-roll to Stubb's BBQ on October 2, 2003, and it is a pleasure to welcome this talented artist to the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, Ms. Presley released her debut album To Whom It May Concern in 2003 to wide acclaim, selling more than 140,000 copies in the first week and entering the Billboard album charts at No. 5; the first single from the album, "Lights Out," is a haunting tribute to her heritage that grips listeners and touches their hearts; and WHEREAS, Appearing at one of Austin's premiere music venues, Ms. Presley will undoubtedly put on an outstanding performance and be warmly embraced by an enthusiastic community of music lovers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Lisa Marie Presley on the occasion of her appearance at Stubb's BBQ and declare October 2, 2003, to be Lisa Marie Presley Day in Texas; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Presley as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
