R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Joshua Koontz of Troop 462 in Lorena has achieved the highest rank bestowed by the Boy Scouts of America with his receipt of the prestigious Eagle Scout insignia; and WHEREAS, Since becoming a member of the Boy Scouts, Mr. Koontz has actively participated in Troop 462 while maintaining the notable standards and ideals emblematic of that fine organization; and WHEREAS, In attaining the rigorous qualifications necessary to ascend to the rank of Eagle Scout, this outstanding young Texan worked diligently to earn the requisite 21 merit badges and complete an Eagle Scout project of benefit to the local community; to that end he led a crew and finished work on a new public building at Mother Neff State Park; and WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Mike and Julie Koontz, he is a student at Lorena High School and a dedicated volunteer at Waco Veterans Affairs; Mr. Koontz enjoys football, cars, and weightlifting and plans to one day join the United States Marine Corps; and WHEREAS, The elite rank of Eagle Scout is attained by only a few accomplished individuals; Mr. Koontz's achievement is indeed worthy of highest praise, and it is a pleasure to recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Joshua Koontz for earning the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Eagle Scout Koontz as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
