R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Robert and Mary Zahirniak were recently honored by 
the West Chamber of Commerce as its 2003 Citizens of the Year for 
their long-standing involvement in making their community an even 
better place in which to live; and
	WHEREAS, This altruistic couple have volunteered countless 
hours preparing and delivering Meals on Wheels, working at the 
Senior Center, helping with blood drives, and taking residents of 
the West Rest Haven to mass on Fridays; and
	WHEREAS, Together they place flags at area cemeteries on 
Memorial Day and prepare meals for the community's Friends 
Thanksgiving Day Dinner; active in the local VFW, Mr. and Mrs. 
Zahirniak have worked for more than two years completing the 
Veterans Wall of Honor in the Katy Depot Museum, which features 
pictures, memorabilia, and uniforms of West area veterans who 
served this nation; and
	WHEREAS, Committed civic leaders and caring neighbors, the 
Zahirniaks have earned a special place in the hearts of their fellow 
citizens, and the couple's shared belief in the importance of 
volunteerism is both admirable and inspiring; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Robert and 
Mary Zahirniak on their selection by the West Chamber of Commerce as 
its 2003 Citizens of the Year and extend to them sincere best wishes 
for continued success and happiness in their future endeavors; and, 
be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the Zahirniaks as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
