R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans who have shared 50 happy and fulfilling years of marriage is truly a memorable occasion; longtime Midland residents Charles and Melba Erck recently commemorated this momentous event in their lives when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at a family dinner at Venezia's; and WHEREAS, Charles Erck and the former Melba Haskins exchanged their wedding vows on July 17, 1953, at a ceremony held in Tyler; following the nuptials, the couple lived in Tyler and Wichita Falls before moving to Midland in 1966; Mr. Erck worked for Humble Oil & Refining and for Exxon, while Mrs. Erck was a member of the nursing staff at Midland Memorial Hospital, and together they created a loving home life for their three children, Steve, Kevin, and Sharon; and WHEREAS, Devoted members of the community of faith at Fannin Terrace Baptist Church, Mr. and Mrs. Erck take immense delight in spending time with their nine grandchildren; since becoming husband and wife 50 years ago, the two have enjoyed an enduring relationship that has grown in love and mutual respect with each passing year, and they remain a source of delight and inspiration to the friends with whom they have shared the richness of their life together; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Charles and Melba Erck of Midland on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for much happiness in the years to come; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Erck as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
