R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for celebration, and on July 4, 2003, the Reverend Caleph Swindell and Mrs. Minnie Swindell of Midland marked this important milestone in their marriage with a renewal of their wedding vows and a dinner hosted by their family at the Midland Holiday Inn; and WHEREAS, Reverend Swindell and the former Minnie Pearl Ransom were married on July 4, 1953, at the Alexander Temple Church of God in Christ; their enduring union has been richly blessed with five children, Shirlyn Kay Houston, Pamela S. Barrett, Gilesa Amos, Marshia Pearl Ayeni, and Caleph Swindell II, 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, A dedicated homemaker throughout her marriage, Mrs. Swindell also worked outside the home and contributed her time as a community volunteer; Reverend Swindell retired from employment as an aircraft technician and today serves as the spiritual leader of the McGee Chapel Church of God in Christ; and WHEREAS, Before the couple moved to Midland in 1961, they lived in Albuquerque as well as in Los Angeles and several other cities in California; and WHEREAS, Together, Reverend and Mrs. Swindell have shared the trials and triumphs of five decades together, and it is a pleasure to honor them at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Reverend Caleph Swindell and Mrs. Minnie Swindell on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Reverend and Mrs. Swindell as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
