H.R. No. 24
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans
who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a
notable occasion; and
WHEREAS, Don and Doris Miller of Midland commemorated this
special event in their lives on July 19, 2003, with a barbecue at
Calvary Assembly of God Family Center hosted by their children; and
WHEREAS, United in marriage on July 20, 1953, at the Assembly
of God Church in Plains, Mr. Miller and the former Doris Kee have
seen their relationship grow in love and respect with each passing
year; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Miller was a valued employee of Ralph Drilling
Company and was also a truck driver until his retirement in 1999,
while Mrs. Miller's employment has included positions at Texas
State Optical, 7-Eleven, and Gibson's; and
WHEREAS, The Millers are blessed with three children, Jerry,
Donna, and Steve, all of whom have benefited immeasurably from
their parents' unfailing love and guidance, and the couple have
also happily welcomed the addition of six grandchildren into the
family fold; and
WHEREAS, For 50 years, Mr. and Mrs. Miller have shared a union
filled with many wonderful times and joyful memories, and their
relationship remains a source of inspiration to their family and
many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Don and Doris
Miller on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere
best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Miller as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
