H.R. No. 38 


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, William E. Sleeper is ending a highly successful term as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor him and to recognize his many achievements; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sleeper has been a force in the Texas insurance industry for more than 30 years, and his hard work and dedication have earned him the respect of colleagues throughout the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, President of Sleeper, Sewell & Company, this accomplished professional has rendered outstanding service to commercial and personal clients as an account executive in property, casualty, life, and health insurance for this highly regarded agency; and WHEREAS, In addition to serving as the company's president, Mr. Sleeper works as a risk management consultant through the William E. Sleeper Company, a division of Sleeper, Sewell & Company, assisting clients in risk management, including risk analysis, risk transfer, risk funding, and risk control; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Principia College in Eslah, Illinois, Mr. Sleeper has demonstrated a commitment to staying abreast of relevant topics in his field; over the years he has earned designation as a chartered property casualty underwriter, an associate in risk management, an associate in management, a chartered life underwriter, and an accredited advisor in insurance designation; additionally, he is a licensed property and liability recording agent for life insurance and risk management; and WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman has further served his chosen profession as an active member of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Society, the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas, and the Independent Insurance Agents of America; and WHEREAS, Despite his demanding professional life, Mr. Sleeper has continued to make time in his schedule to work for the betterment of his community; the Park Cities Rotary Club and Rotary International have benefited from his time and many talents in myriad ways; and WHEREAS, Duly recognized for his innumerable achievements, Mr. Sleeper has received such prestigious accolades as the Distinguished Service Award from the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas, the Leadership Recognition Award from the CPCU Society, and the Standard Setter Award from the CPCU Society; and WHEREAS, This notable Texan has been supported throughout his career by a close-knit family that includes his beloved wife, Mica, his four daughters, Shannon Wright, Shawn Haney, Jessica Nemmers, and Alyssa Dyson, and his six grandchildren, Corey, Lauren, Brittany, Ryan, Keith, and Luke; he also derives great pleasure from pursuing his favorite hobbies, which include exercising, traveling, and playing in the Town North Concert Band, the Texas All State German Band, the Dixie Flyers, and the Heritage Brass Band; and WHEREAS, Bill Sleeper's extensive contributions to the insurance industry and to his community have touched the lives of many people, and it is a privilege to wish him well as he steps down from the president's post to take on new challenges and opportunities; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor William E. Sleeper on the completion of his exemplary tenure as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas, and extend to him heartfelt best wishes for continued success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Sleeper as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
