R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, BASEBALLPARKS.COM bestowed a well-deserved honor on
the Frisco RoughRiders by naming the franchise's Dr Pepper/Seven Up
Ballpark the Best New Ballpark for 2003; and
WHEREAS, Inaugurated on April 3, 2003, the Dr Pepper/Seven Up
Ballpark outshone minor- and major-league facilities from across
the country to earn this prestigious accolade; presented by
BASEBALLPARKS.COM creator and webmaster Joe Mock, the Best New
Ballpark award annually recognizes the finest newly built
professional baseball stadium that combines a superior design,
attractive site selection, and fan amenities; and
WHEREAS, Designed by David M. Schwarz Architectural
Services, with HKS, Inc., acting as architect of record, this
outstanding ballpark provides seating for up to 10,000 fans; the
field is located in a park-like setting, where fans can enjoy an
intimate, old-fashioned evening of baseball while taking advantage
of the stadium's state-of-the-art amenities; and
WHEREAS, The Dr Pepper/Seven Up Ballpark provides a great
showcase for the Double A Frisco RoughRiders, a Texas Rangers farm
team that finished the first half of its inaugural season in first
place; the ball club earned a coveted playoff berth and sent several
of its team members to "the Show" during the season; and
WHEREAS, The new Frisco baseball stadium will undoubtedly
host many home team victories and continue to serve as a source of
tremendous pride for the RoughRiders franchise and its many
supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Frisco
RoughRiders and all those associated with the Dr Pepper/Seven Up
Ballpark on the stadium's selection as the 2003 Best New Ballpark.
