R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sherry Cunningham is retiring as president of the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce after 10 years of dedicated service, concluding a distinguished tenure in community economic development; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Watonga High School in Watonga, Oklahoma, Mrs. Cunningham studied at Alvin Community College and Southwestern Oklahoma State University; she successfully completed training at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute of Organizational Management and also attended the chamber's Post Graduate Institute; and WHEREAS, This esteemed woman began her career as the executive director of the Watonga Chamber of Commerce, and over the ensuing years she served in leadership positions with chambers of commerce in Alvin, Copperas Cove, and Palestine; Mrs. Cunningham assumed her current post in 1993, and she has since won the respect and admiration of colleagues and citizens alike for her vision and dedication; and WHEREAS, At the helm of the Kerrville Area Chamber for the past decade, Mrs. Cunningham has successfully guided her team of chamber staff to achieve their shared objectives, and during her impressive tenure the Kerrville Chamber of Commerce became an Accredited U.S. Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, A natural leader, Mrs. Cunningham has served as a board member of the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce, the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives, and the Texas Association of Business and Commerce; this dedicated woman also enjoys giving back to her community as a member of the Kerrville Rotary Club, a 4-H Leader, and a Sunday school teacher at Trinity Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Cunningham is supported in all that she does by her husband, Rick, her four children, Jan, Jay, Rick, and Craig, and her seven grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Sherry Cunningham has contributed greatly toward the advancement of the Kerrville community and the State of Texas, and it is a pleasure to honor her for her outstanding efforts in behalf of the people of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Sherry Cunningham as she steps down from her position as president of the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Cunningham as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
