R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Linda Krause of Wellington Elementary School in
Flower Mound has been named the 2003 Texas Outstanding Social
Studies Teacher of the Year by the Texas Council for the Social
Studies; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Krause received this notable honor based on
letters of recommendation, lesson plans, photos of classroom
activities, education, and professional achievements; her name
will now be submitted to the National Council for the Social Studies
for consideration as the national Social Studies Teacher of the
Year; and
WHEREAS, An educator for 27 years, Mrs. Krause helps her
students to excel in the subjects of history, social studies, and
geography while teaching them to appreciate what it means to live in
a democratic society; and
WHEREAS, A valuable resource and mentor for other teachers,
she continually strives to learn new and better methods of
instruction; in the past summer alone, she spent eight days meeting
with constitutional scholars while attending the prestigious We the
People: The Citizen and the Constitution Institute at James Madison
University in Virginia; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding educator has placed countless
students on the path to a bright future, and her exemplary efforts
serve as an inspiration to students and colleagues alike; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Linda Krause
on her receipt of the Texas Outstanding Social Studies Teacher of
the Year award and extend to her best wishes for continued success
and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Krause as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
