R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Delton Daugherty, a regional director for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and a longtime citizen of the Trans-Pecos, has won widespread appreciation and respect for his many years of outstanding public service; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Mr. Daugherty joined the staff of TPWD on October 12, 1971, and spent his first years with the agency at the Fort Lancaster State Historical Site; hardworking and highly capable, he ascended the ranks of the organization and in 1994 assumed the post he currently holds; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, this esteemed gentleman has been instrumental in the development of numerous TPWD properties, including Big Bend Ranch, Franklin Mountains, and Kickapoo Cavern state parks, Devil's Sinkhole State Natural Area, and the Wyler Aerial Tramway; altogether, he provides leadership to 18 parks, containing more than 300,000 acres, and he has served as a mentor to countless agency employees; his exemplary efforts were recognized in 2000 when he shared in a TPWD Outstanding Team award; and WHEREAS, A resident of Fort Davis since 1973, Mr. Daugherty has contributed greatly toward the advancement of his community; he has served on the Jeff Davis County Underground Water District Board of Directors and on the board of the Fort Davis Independent School District; in 1999 he and his wife, Lea, were named Volunteers of the Year by the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, For more than 30 years, Delton Daugherty has played a vital role in preserving and interpreting the heritage of the Lone Star State, and the legacy of his endeavors will continue to enrich Texans for generations to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Delton Daugherty on his professional and civic accomplishments and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Daugherty as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
