H.R. No. 66 


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On September 28, 2003, Northwest Preparatory Academy Charter School in Houston is celebrating three years of successful operation as an open enrollment charter school during its Founder's Day convocation, and this event provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on the school's many achievements and societal contributions; and WHEREAS, Founded by Stevie L. Roberts and Erik L. Singleton, the school's superintendent and deputy superintendent, respectively, the academy opened in August 2001; the school aims to provide a balanced educational program through meaningful instruction and collaborative efforts with parents, community leaders, and business partners; and WHEREAS, The academy currently enrolls 324 students in prekindergarten through the eighth grade; in addition to its challenging, research-based curriculum, the school features specialized instruction in foreign language, choral and performing music, technology education, and weekend engineering classes; and WHEREAS, The Northwest Preparatory Academy Charter School has made a significant contribution to the development of countless students, providing them with a strong academic foundation that will undoubtedly help them meet the challenges of the future, and it is a pleasure to honor the dedicated men and women who have contributed to the school's tremendous success; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend all those associated with Northwest Preparatory Academy Charter School on the occasion of its Founder's Day celebration and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success in the years to come.
