R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Way to Happiness Foundation International 
strives to teach children basic values, reduce crime and violence, 
and build stronger families to create a better society for all; and
	WHEREAS, Established in 1985, the foundation works to 
disseminate moral guidelines contained in author L. Ron Hubbard's 
book, The Way to Happiness, which has been distributed in 95 
countries and 42 languages; and
	WHEREAS, The annual Set A Good Example contest, sponsored by 
the Concerned Businessmen's Association of America, draws on this 
book to impart fundamental moral precepts to children and encourage 
them to educate their peers about commonsense standards of right 
and wrong conduct; started in the city of Harlingen 13 years ago, 
the Set A Good Example Campaign has been introduced in more than 100 
South Texas schools; and
	WHEREAS, Through its coordinated endeavors to reduce drug 
abuse, crime, and violence in schools, the Way to Happiness 
Foundation International has made a positive impact on the lives of 
countless children in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the Way to 
Happiness Foundation International for its contributions to the 
youth of Texas and extend to all those involved with this 
organization sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the foundation as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
