R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to 
recognize the Hispanic Association of Communications Employees of 
SBC (HACEMOS) on the occasion of HACEMOS Day, September 17, 2003; 
and
	WHEREAS, Established in November 1988, the Hispanic 
Association of Communications Employees of SBC is a nonprofit 
organization of active and retired employees of SBC Communications, 
Inc.; and
	WHEREAS, The members of HACEMOS are committed to encouraging 
diversity in the workplace, providing equal opportunity for all, 
and supporting education in communities; and
	WHEREAS, The organization's primary mission is to foster an 
environment in which people succeed professionally, personally, 
and socially; HACEMOS also assists SBC Communications, Inc., in 
reaching its objectives and in improving the quality of life in the 
Hispanic community; and
	WHEREAS, Members of HACEMOS seek to strengthen the 
recruitment of Hispanics by SBC Communications, Inc., and 
participate in functions that celebrate the Hispanic culture and 
heritage; and
	WHEREAS, HACEMOS has over 1,360 members in the following 25 
chapters:  Austin, Chicago, Chicago Bilingual, Cleveland, Corpus 
Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Fresno, Hartford, Houston, 
Los Angeles, Lubbock, Milwaukee, New Haven, Oklahoma, Orange 
County, Reno, Sacramento, St. Louis, San Antonio, San Diego, San 
Jose, San Ramon, and Stockton; and
	WHEREAS, HACEMOS, a well-known promoter of higher education, 
has raised funds and awarded over half a million dollars to 
deserving students desiring to further their education; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend HACEMOS on its 
worthy goals and its many accomplishments and extend to all those 
associated with this fine organization sincere best wishes for 
continued success and for a celebratory HACEMOS Day; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for HACEMOS as an expression of esteem by the Texas House 
of Representatives.
