                                                                  H.R. No. 87 



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Vernon and Shirley Gilbert of Midland celebrated 
their 50th wedding anniversary on August 16, 2003, as the guests of 
honor at a memorable family get-together; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Gilbert married the former Shirley Higginbotham 
on August 15, 1953, in Lubbock at the home of the Reverend J. F. Nix; 
over the years, they have nurtured a strong bond of love, and their 
marriage has been blessed with three sons, Gary, Roger, and Randy, a 
daughter, Sherri Pryor, and 23 grandchildren; and
	WHEREAS, Valued residents of Midland, the Gilberts founded a 
security business that later became Aprotex Corporation; they 
currently serve on the company's board of directors along with 
other family members; and
	WHEREAS, For half a century this devoted couple have enjoyed 
a happy and rewarding relationship that has enriched their lives 
and the lives of their family and friends, and it is a pleasure to 
honor their enduring union; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Vernon and 
Shirley Gilbert on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding 
anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued 
happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
