H.R. No. 98
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America is
commemorating its 85th anniversary on April 1, 2004; and
WHEREAS, One of this nation's foremost character development
programs, the Boy Scouts of America instills in young people values
that will last a lifetime, providing scouts with citizenship,
service, and leadership training as they serve local communities
through their participation in myriad volunteer initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Chartered on April 1, 1919, the Bay Area Council
carries forward a proud tradition of civic engagement today,
demonstrating its members' allegiance to the Boy Scout oath "to
help other people at all times"; and
WHEREAS, The Bay Area Council has inspired the young men of
Galveston and Brazoria counties since its founding, equipping them
with essential life skills and a spirit of service that have served
them well as they have encountered the challenges and opportunities
of adulthood; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate all those
associated with the Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America on
the organization's 85th anniversary and extend to them sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the council as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
